some one did this using a wii remote to track the location of the users head. They did not need a 3d tv to produce the 3d effect. In fact all the 3d tv does is make the image kind of blurry at the nose of the airplane.

tilting your head might be a problem... however if the glasses had IR LEDS on it's sides, the eye angle could be used, and it would create an even better vr experience :)

This is pretty cool. That being said, don't say its "3D without any 2D tricks" when infact almost all 3D display technology is just that. For as long as you are creative a 3D perception behind a 2D surface, these are all 'tricks'. I'll consider it 3D only when light is reflected at or near the space to which there is a virtual surface of a virtual object, only then will I consider it 3D without 2D tricks. That being said, these 2D tricks seem to be getting better all the time. Great job!
