The copy protection codes are not embedded in the cable but actually on the DVD and Blu-Ray disc and also on some satellite and digital cable boxes. This old man has it all wrong. The HDMI cable is just a copper wire cable.

This entire video is a lie. Component will pass any video signal that HDMI will, and the whole thing about analog/digital is just industry hype.

Wrong - the h-sync and v-sync signals are there, they are overlaid on the color channels.

An HD15 Y/Pb/Pr 3 RCA Adapter Cable is a component video. There is device on the market which does exactly what you are looking for and more by extracting also the audio signal from the HDMI signal as well; it is an "HDMI to VGA & R/L Stereo Audio Converter ". You can find it online at monoprice

@tylertfs123 @tylertfs123 there's a great chart on Wikipedia that can help you out with the exact bandwidth capability difference. We can't leave links but you can find it at that site slash wiki slash HDMI, and it will show you the differences in terms of 3D over HDMI, Ethernet channel, Audio Return Channel, and 4k x 2K resolution support. Hope that helps!

Hdmi cables have a much more sopistiicated video encoding than component video. HDMI uses a video encoding called "Transition Minimized Differential Signaling", by which it transmit all of the video information with digital transmission; without any loss or interference of video transmission. VGA is similar to HDMI, but it uses digital to analog transmission. The big difference between component and HDMI is that component does not synctronize the horizontal and vertical scan lines like VGA,HDMI.

Yes, when i bought ps3 it actually only came with component cables. I had to buy HDMI. Either way if you have the right cable you can hook ps3 to both HDMI and regular tv.

I have a new Dell XPS17 that has an HDMI output. I want to output from that HTMI to a pair of video glasses I've just bought (Prober EV920G). The vid glasses have the following adaptor cables: VGA male (no good, as the laptop doesn't have a VGA output), Standard A/V RCA composite (no good, as it's analogue), PSP 3.5mm male (whatever that is), AV 3.5 male, and Video 3.5mm male. Also my Galaxy S2 video out jack does not run the glasses on any of those. Can you salvage anything out of all this? =)

Actually HDMI isn't bad either.Thing is,component cables suffer from a bit of rate lag,and for me,that hurts my eyes.HDMI doesn't really have that problem.I'm saying HDMI is better,I'm saying I prefer HDMI.
