i have the same tv and the power supply is fried. is there any type of alternative power supply that will work?
Dec 12, 2011 9kuuby9 Says:
you replaced the 12v psu by 2 12V psu's whit the same total amps or ?
And did you put them in serial from the power source ?
And can you test caps while they are soldered to the board or do you have to desolder them and test them on for one?
I hope you'll answer soon on my question!
Thx and keep the good vids comming up!

i have like 4LCD screen (soyo 17") that turn black (no neon, no image, but with power led on) after a couple of minute. can you tell me what do you think? they work pecfecly OK, but they stop working after like 15-30min. after turning black, if you try to Off/On them, the image just flash and they turn black again.

I have some with 10 watt/ 70.7 volt transformers on some ceiling baffles, just look at my channel, on the background, thats what mine were on
May 14, 2011 Maxxarcade Says:
Wow, good eye on the speakers!
Any idea what cabinets they were supposed to be in? I got them on Ebay as bare drivers. I think they had 70v transformers with them too.

Not even HD?, That must be an early flat panel set, strange how the speaker coupling caps blew, good setup though just retrofit 2 PSU's to replace i dual type, I like that
May 4, 2011 vwestlife Says:
That's probably one of those 20-inch 640x480 LCD TVs that were sold around 4-5 years ago. Having that low of a resolution made the picture fuzzy and grainy, but HDTVs were still very expensive, so it was a popular bargain buy. Some of these were advertised as "EDTV" (Enhanced Definition TV), a made-up name for progressive-scan standard definition video.

A bit of both. If you Google/Wikipedia "Capacitor Plague" you'll find some info on how cheap/defective caps got into everything. Also, the forums at badcaps dot net are a good place to read up on it, along with everything else to do with computers and electronics.

All these electronics you fix with bad caps...is it just that the caps are poor quality or are they like from some massive bad batch of caps?

you do some good work bro.. i have an early 90's zenith gigantor crt that doesn't work any more. It used to work obviously, then a while back the speakers went out, then finally the whole thing won't turn on. You push the power button and the power light blinks briefly and nothing happens. I don't know a whole lot about crt's themselves but do you think it could be capacitors on the mainboard or a shot power supply?

they may be using panels made by someone else but the video "engine"and all other electronic are Sony.Seiko is agood brand, but I heard that they use Samsung panels.Who knows???

Very good repair job , it is better now than when it was new. If it wasn't hit by lightning it would seem that the TV was not designed very well from circuit protection to having only the minimum requirements for the power supply.

How about them TPS-reports? Didn't you get the memo? :) I love that film!
