If you look up "Privacy monitor hacked from an old LCD Monitor" on Google you will find a tutorial of someone cutting out the front polarizer film in order to reuse it on a pair of glasses instead (so the monitor can be viewed only through the glass) It involves using a metal cutter to allow ripping, and some solvent to remove the remaining glue on the glass. The tutorial "pretends" if the metal cutter is clean, it won't damage the glass. I wouldn't trust this tutorial to work on all models.
